Calc is a non-commercial project built by a solo developer. All calculations run locally in your browser. This page explains what Calc does (and mostly doesn’t do) with data.
Last updated: 24 Aug 2025
Controller: Calc (solo developer; India)
What I do (in one paragraph)
- All calculations run locally in your browser.
- I don’t collect your inputs (numbers you type, results, personal details).
- I may record basic, non-identifying usage events (e.g., which calculator page/URL was opened) to improve the site.
- In the EEA/UK I ask for consent before using cookies for analytics or ads. If you don’t grant consent, I don’t use those cookies.
Important: I do not store or forward any inputs outside your browser — inputs and results remain on your device.
A. Data that stays on your device
Small storage items that are not sent to my servers:
- Favorites / pinned calculators — stored in
localStorage. - UI preferences — theme, last category, etc.
- Consent choice — cookie/localStorage entry for the banner.
You can clear these anytime via your browser’s Clear Site Data controls.
B. Optional analytics (Google Analytics 4)
If you consent (or where consent isn’t required), I may record anonymous, aggregated events such as:
calculator_view(which calculator page/URL was opened)calculator_use(that a calculation was performed — no inputs/results)search(site search queries)calculator_favorite(adding/removing a favorite)
I do not send calculator inputs, results, names, emails, or personal identifiers. Analytics is provided by GA4 through a first-party tag gateway (e.g., /z83i/) and respects your consent.
- Opt-out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on, your browser’s tracking prevention, or the consent banner (EEA/UK).
C. Optional advertising (Google)
If I show ads, I use Google ad services. In the EEA/UK I show ads only after consent; if you deny consent, either non-personalized ads or no ads are shown (depending on configuration). Google acts as an independent controller for ad data — see Google’s Privacy & Terms.
Depending on configuration, ads may be served by Google or InMobi. Each provider operates under its own privacy policies and, for certain processing, may act as an independent controller — please review their terms.
In the EEA/UK, Calc uses Google Consent Mode v2 and — if the CMP is configured for TCF — compliance via IAB TCF v2.2.
Cookies & storage I use
| Purpose | Type | Where it lives | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consent preference | Cookie or localStorage | Your browser | Remembers your banner choice so you aren’t asked each visit |
| Favorites / preferences | localStorage | Your browser | Saves favorites and UI choices |
| Analytics (if consented) | Cookies | Your browser | GA4 may set cookies to recognize returning visits (non-PII) |
| Ads (if consented) | Cookies | Your browser | Google may set cookies to deliver/personalize/measure ads |
No login, no name/email requested, and no user database.
Legal bases
EEA/UK: consent for analytics and advertising cookies. Essential storage (e.g., favorites/consent state) uses legitimate interests or is strictly necessary. Other regions: analytics/ads under legitimate interests or consent where required.
Children’s privacy
Students may use Calc’s calculators for learning. Calc is a general‑audience site and is not directed to children under the age required by local law (e.g., 13/16). Calculations run locally in your browser and the site does not collect or forward calculator inputs. If a child posts personal information on an external channel (e.g., a public GitHub issue), that content is on a third‑party platform; please use the Contact section to request removal. Parents/guardians should supervise a child’s use of public forums, and Calc is not responsible for information posted to third‑party sites.
Your choices & controls
- Clear local data via your browser’s Clear cookies / site data controls.
- Opt-out of analytics with the GA Opt-out Add-on or tracking-prevention settings.
- Manage ads at adssettings.google.com.
- Use the consent banner (EEA/UK) to accept or reject analytics/ads.
Data retention
No personal data is kept on my servers. GA4 retention is typically 2–14 months (aggregated/pseudonymous). Ad platforms follow their own retention rules.
Changes to this policy
If I change how I use data, I’ll update this page and adjust the “Last updated” date. Significant changes will be highlighted.
Contact
I don’t publish an email address. For privacy questions or requests, please use my public GitHub issue tracker (don’t include personal information):
If you can’t use GitHub, open a general issue and say you need a private channel; I’ll provide one.
